M Diary #53: The on-going collaboration between Champion and Wood Wood
New capsule collection Fall Winter 2017/18
Champion was founded in Rochester in 1919 by the Feinbloom brothers and it stands out as one of the largest brands specialised in sportswear.
Chosen for its constant focus on product innovation and the study of materials, it soon became the principal uniforms supplier of the university of Michigan and then official sponsor of NBA, dressing some of the most influential basketball players such as Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson.
In light of the constant need for repairing and maintenance of athletic uniforms, Champion invented and patented the “Reverse Weave”: a special reverse fleece weaving that prevents garments from shrinking even when they’re subject to frequent washing.
Over the years Champion has established itself as a global company and collaborates with several famous brands such as Beams, Bape, Stussy, Vetements, Supreme, Wood Wood.
This Fall Winter 2017/18 Champion proposes a new co-branded capsule collection , continuing its successful partnership with Wood Wood.
The essential items composing the collection are characterized by a neat aesthetic and a refined colour blocking that highlights the logo. Sweaters and t-shirts represent a stylish combination sportswear and streetwear.
